These past few years I've been a member of the media/animation team, so I don't really know anything about the machines we have. So for Machine Mondays, I'm going to showcase a machine, and try to expand my own knowledge a little bit!
This is our Lathe! Lathes are cool because instead of the cutting tool spinning or moving to cut the part, the part is moving against a stationary cutting tool. And it can create an evenly threaded screw-type piece, by setting the part to move forward past the blade at a steady, controlled pace.
